'Shim and Gatsby'
Shim is my sister-in-law's prize-winning Shetland mare. Gatsby is her foal, and a more mischievous fellow you cannot find!
I loved the challenge of working in a different style to what I usually do for this commission. I also loved being pushed to work on a different substrate, which manages water differently to every other surface I have worked on.
This painting was based on my sister-in-law's photo, and was completed on white Clairefontaine Pastelmat with Intkentse pencils.
'Lady'
I have always loved horses, so was beyond excited to commissioned to paint Lady, my sister-in-law's much loved Kaimanawa mare, who had passed away.
Although I usually don't paint domesticated animals, horses are such noble and beautiful creatures, and have such an extraordinary relationship with their owners, so I had to paint these portraits.
This painting was based on my sister-in-law's photo, and was completed on white Clairefontaine Pastelmat with Intkentse pencils.
'Blue Tit in a Blossom Tree'
I was delighted to be commissioned to paint a special 80th birthday present for a dear family friend. The family wanted a watercolour painting of the lady's favourite bird, the Eurasian Blue Tit bird.
